HZ Solutions offers materials qualities according to EN 10270-1, with the difference that the values as stated in EN 10270-1 apply as a lower limit. The EN 10270-1/2/3 divides designations of steel grades in three ways:

  • Group 1: Steel grades designated on the basis of their use and mechanical or physical properties.
  • Group 2: Steel grades designated by their chemical composition.
  • Group 3: corrosion resistant materials (stainless steel)

More about spring steel

Spring steel is used for the production of wire springs and leaf springs. Spring steel is certainly also widely used for the production of fastening clips as mounting means. Fastening clips are widely used as a replacement for other connections; a glue connection, a bolt connection a screw connection or simply a connection with pop rivets. Would you like to know more about how the application of spring steel can help you easily and quickly connect parts? Please do not hesitate to contact us. Our specialists can show you many examples of successful applications.

Metals and surface treatments

By discussing with the customer the environment in which the spring operates, it can be determined whether the spring needs additional treatment. It can happen that the working environment affects the spring in such a way that certain materials slowly dissolve.

Another choice as an expensive material is to use surface treatments that help the spring withstand the working environment and not dissolve. The most common surface treatments: electroplating, phosphating, nickel plating, chrome plating, powder coating, tin plating and silver plating / gold plating. All these surface treatments give the spring different properties. This therefore affects the functioning of the spring. Possible influences: extending the service life without altering the mechanical properties. Would you like to read which treatments we offer you?
